What Our Customers Say

Igor really helped me out in an emergency situation. He came by after hours to diagnose the issue. Stayed late to patch things together and make them safe. Then worked me in his schedule on a holiday weekend to replace the whole panel. I am very grateful for his quick response and VERY impressed with the quality of his work.

Emergency call and panel replacement
Igor was very knowledgeable and didn't nickel and dime me. He fit me in at the end of the day to get power back to my house. 10/10 would recommend

Power restored
Igor called me very quickly after I submitted a request. He came over and did a thorough look over my house and was very honest and matter of fact. Even though he has a packed schedule, he was able to get me in. Originally I was told it would be 2 days but he did it all in 1 without it appearing to have been a rush. If I need an electrician again, I’ll definitely be reaching out to him.

Is It the Breaker, or What the Breaker Protects?

Tripping, dead or warm to the touch in your Vancouver home — we test the breaker and the run it feeds before any part changes, then fit one listed for your panel.

Before any part changes, we find out why the circuit breaker is acting up. Usually a trip is the breaker doing its job on an overloaded run, a short, a ground fault or a failing appliance; less often it is the breaker itself, worn to the point where it trips early or not at all. So the test happens at the panel: the breaker under load, where it grips the bus, the neutral bar, and the circuit beyond it. A worn or scorched breaker is swapped for one listed for that panel, because another maker's part does not belong in it even if it snaps in. When the fault is out on the circuit, you hear that from us, since a new breaker would trip just the same. In a local house from the 1965–73 slice, that can be an aluminum branch circuit loosening at an outlet. Clark Public Utilities stays out of it; the main is simply switched off, then back on.

How Circuit Breaker Repair Works Here

1

Test under load

Breaker, bus grip, neutral bar, the run beyond

2

Name the cause

Worn breaker, overload, short or appliance fault

3

Written estimate

Repair scope agreed before any part changes

4

Fit or fix

Listed breaker fitted, or the circuit fault repaired

5

Prove it

Circuit loaded again before we leave

Vancouver has 13,705 houses built 1970 to 1979, and any breakers original to their panels are that old too. The 1965–73 slice is also the aluminum-wiring years, so when a breaker trips in one of those homes, we check the connections out on the circuit as well.

What Points to a Breaker Problem

One circuit trips over and over
The handle is loose or will not latch
A breaker runs hot or looks scorched
Crackling or buzzing behind the panel cover
Power gone on a circuit that never tripped

What Affects the Cost of Circuit Breaker Repair in Vancouver

What the test at the panel shows decides whether this is a quick swap or a bigger repair.

  • Breaker or circuit

A worn breaker is a short swap; an overload, short or failing appliance on the run is a separate repair.

  • A listed replacement

The new part must be listed for that panel, and breakers for older makes can take longer to find.

  • Heat where it clips in

Scorching on the bus or neutral bar can turn one new part into panel repair or a new panel.

  • A panel from the 1970s

In the 13,705 local houses from that decade, original breakers are decades old, so we look over the whole panel.

  • Aluminum out on the run

In a 1965–73 house, a trip can trace to an aluminum branch circuit loose at an outlet, which adds connection work.

  • No utility visit for a swap

Clark Public Utilities stays out of a branch breaker swap; the main is switched off and back on.

  • Resizing or adding a circuit

That counts as new work, inspected by the city inside its limits or by Washington L&I outside them.

Questions Homeowners Ask

Can you just swap the breaker that keeps tripping?
Not before we know why it trips. A worn breaker is fixed by a listed replacement; an overloaded or faulted circuit would trip a new one the same way, so the repair belongs on the circuit.
Why won't my circuit breaker reset?
Either the fault is still on the circuit, so it trips the moment it latches, or its mechanism has failed. Unplug what is on that circuit and try once; if it will not hold, leave it off and call us.
Can a circuit breaker wear out without tripping?
Yes. A worn one can trip early, or fail to trip when it should, and heat at the panel is one sign. That is why we test it under load rather than judge it by eye or by age.
How long does a circuit breaker replacement take?
The swap itself is short, about 10 minutes with the main switched off. Testing the breaker and the run it feeds comes before that, and a fault found out on the circuit gets its own written estimate.
