Hot Tub Electrician in Grant Park, Portland

Grant Park, Portland

Hot Tub Electrician

September 2026

A Grant Park family got a new hot tub, and it needed its own power. We trenched a line across the yard, ran a dedicated circuit to a spa disconnect and got the tub running. Hot tubs need a GFCI-protected circuit and a disconnect within sight of the tub, and we set it up that way from the start.

“Professional, knowledgeable and competent, great communication, everything done on time and as promised, reasonable prices, highly recommend.”

Over three years we have done a mix of work for one Grant Park household: rewiring, ceiling fan installations and other electrical jobs as they came up. Being the electrician a family calls back year after year is the part of this work we value most.

★★★★★Joe H.

“Igor has provided services to us for over the past three years, including electrical work, rewiring, fan installations, and other related tasks. He is punctual, dependable, and offers fair pricing. We recommend him with no reservations”

Opening Up the Kitchen in a 1925 Grant Park House? Start at the Panel

The oldest homes of any Portland neighborhood — knob-and-tube replacement, rewiring and panel upgrades for two-story houses built before the circuit breaker was standard.

Grant Park has the oldest housing stock of all 92 Portland neighborhoods: 93.1% of its 1,431 homes were built before 1940. 354 date from the 1910s and 809 from the 1920s; in all, 1,332 homes went up between 1900 and 1939. Only 53 have been built since 1960, and 16 since 2010. The typical Grant Park house runs two stories and covers about 1,950 square feet. Laurelhurst, a short way south, went up in the same two decades.

The neighborhood was finished before the circuit breaker was standard. A house that age was built for a fuse box and a handful of circuits, and a second floor means more rooms sharing fewer of them. Many of these houses have been beautifully remodeled, and a new kitchen or bathroom can sit on top of the original wiring behind the finish. If you are opening up walls, that is the moment to look.

Nearly every home predates 1940, the knob-and-tube era → Knob-and-Tube Replacement
809 homes from the 1920s alone → Whole-House Rewire

Electrical Service Upgrade & Meter Base in Alameda, Portland

Alameda, Portland

Electrical Service Upgrade & Meter Base

October 2026

This Alameda home needed more power than its old service could give. We upgraded the service on the outside wall with a new meter base and main disconnect, and the work was inspected. A service upgrade like this is often the first step before a new panel, an EV charger or a heat pump.

★★★★★Andrew N.

“Igor has done work for me multiple times and always does an excellent job. I highly recommend him.”

At this Rose City Park house, the meter and service equipment on the back wall were overdue for replacement. Aluminum Wiring Repair in Beaumont-Wilshire, Portland

Beaumont-Wilshire, Portland

Aluminum Wiring Repair

September 2026

In Beaumont-Wilshire, the old three-wire aluminum circuit feeding the electric dryer was shorting out. We retired it and ran a new 30-amp dryer line with a modern four-prong outlet, routing surface conduit through the garage attic so the walls stayed intact. The work was inspected, and old splices were moved into proper junction boxes to meet code. Aluminum wiring repair like this removes a real fire risk from an older home.

★★★★★Stephen C.

“Igor is amazing to work with. His attention to detail and drive to get the project done to spec (as well as make it look good) are great attributes. He continually went above and beyond to make sure the project was completed to code. I will absolutely work with Igor again when any electrical needs arise.”

GFCI & AFCI Installation in Irvington, Portland

Irvington, Portland

GFCI & AFCI Installation

September 2026

An Irvington homeowner needed an outlet outside that would be safe in Portland rain. We installed a GFCI outlet in a weatherproof box with an in-use cover, fed through conduit along the siding. Code requires GFCI protection on outdoor outlets, so it shuts off on a fault and stays dry.

★★★★★Josh H.

“Igor did a awesome job for a reasonable price highly recommend his services!”

New Circuit & Outlet Installation in Beaumont-Wilshire, Portland

Beaumont-Wilshire, Portland

New Circuit & Outlet Installation

September 2026

This Beaumont-Wilshire homeowner wanted a new outlet in the garage for tools. We ran a new circuit from the panel in flexible metal conduit and set the box where they needed it. A dedicated circuit means no more tripped breakers when the big tools are running.

★★★★★Mikhaxl

“Igor is a very knowledgeable electrician. With his service, you’re never in the dark about what’s going on. He keeps you updated from beginning to end. Definitely recommend!”

Electrical Panel Replacement & Upgrade in Alameda, Portland

Alameda, Portland

Electrical Panel Replacement & Upgrade

September 2026

An Alameda home in Portland had two panels, one of them an old Murray. We combined them into a single new panel rated for 200 amps, with the main breaker set at 100 amps to match the house's current service. If the homeowners decide to upgrade to 200-amp service later, the panel is already ready for it. We also grounded the house to code and added gas and water bonding.

★★★★★Rebecca F.

“Very professional and knowledgeable. Igor did an awsome job. We will continue to use PWR PRO ELECTRIC, for our indoor lighting.”

Light Fixture Installation & Repair in Irvington, Portland

Irvington, Portland

Light Fixture Installation & Repair

September 2026

An Irvington homeowner wanted easier control over their lights. We swapped an old bank of switches for a multi-button lighting keypad, so the main lights are now controlled from one clean plate on the wall. Small upgrades like this make an older home easier to live in.

★★★★★Gamachis A.

“If you need electrical work done, call Igor! He came out on short notice to install our security camera and lights, and did a fantastic job. He’s efficient, highly skilled, and very kind. 10/10 recommend for any job, big or small!”

Electrical Panel Replacement & Upgrade in Irvington, Portland

Irvington, Portland

Electrical Panel Replacement & Upgrade

September 2026

An older Irvington home lost power, and we were out the next day to find out why. The panel was the problem, so we replaced it and brought the house's electrical up to code at the same time. Electrical panel replacement comes up often in Portland's older homes, where the original equipment was never meant for today's loads.

★★★★★Nicole H.

“Igor has been great! We lost power to our house and he was out to assess the situation the next day! Able to replace our panel and get our older house up to code! Truly appreciate his work!”

Electrical Repair & Troubleshooting in Rose City Park, Portland

Rose City Park, Portland

Electrical Repair & Troubleshooting

September 2026

An owner of several older rental properties, one of them in Rose City Park, sends us the hard problems these houses turn up. Older rentals tend to hide wiring surprises behind the walls, so electrical troubleshooting there starts with finding the real cause, then fixing it properly instead of patching it.

★★★★★Michele M.

“Igor is the smartest, most thorough electrician I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with! In owning some older rental properties, I threw some really difficult projects at him. He treated it like “nothing but a thing!” and solved every problem efficiently, thoroughly and successfully. I would trust him with ANY electrical task!”

FAQ — Local Homes

Our Grant Park house was remodeled beautifully. Could old wiring still be hiding in the walls?
Yes. A remodel often replaces what is visible — the panel, the fixtures, the outlets in the new kitchen — and leaves the runs inside the walls alone. New plaster or drywall hides them. A look in the attic, the basement and the panel usually shows what was changed.
Our home dates from the early 1900s. How disruptive is a rewire?
Less than most people expect, but not nothing. New cable is pulled through the attic, the basement and the wall cavities, with small openings cut where a run has to turn, then patched. Plaster takes more care than drywall, and an empty house goes faster than an occupied one.
Do we need a panel upgrade to add an EV charger or an induction range?
Often, in a house this age. Both are large 240-volt loads, and a panel built for fuses or an early breaker service rarely has room for either. We add up the existing loads before recommending anything.
Can you help with old wiring or ungrounded outlets?
Yes. Two-prong outlets mean the circuit has no ground. The fix ranges from GFCI protection on the existing circuit to running a new grounded circuit, depending on what the outlet feeds and what the wiring behind it is.
Is this neighborhood a historic district?
No. It is not on Portland's list of Historic, Conservation or National Register Districts, unlike Irvington, which is a City Historic District. So there is no district rule to plan around for your electrical work.
