What Our Customers Say

Igor’s clearly committed to doing the job well from the start, he followed through with determination to that end- even as the job got bigger than expected. My home was in a dire situation before he arrived, in need of a complete and total rebuild and recovery of virtually every system. He made sure to show me what problems I had and explained them to me so I could understand. I appreciated the piece of mind I was afforded by him keeping me in the loop. Before, I was so stressed about the pervasive electrical issues in my home. Now, I’m delighted to be writing this well-deserved review for an excellent tradesman. Thanks for saving my home!!

Whole-home electrical rebuild
In a time of lackluster customer service, Igor is a refreshing reminder that great service is still possible. A true professional, he responds quickly to calls, shows up on time, is polite and personable, and completes his work cleanly, quietly, on time and on budget. His prices are very reasonable, especially when you consider the quality of and speed of his work. Our house is 100 years old and it has scared off some electricians as we've tried to gently drag it into the 21st century. Not Igor. He has the knowledge and skill to tackle the complexities presented. We are completely happy with the service and the work he provided. I've already recommended him to several friends and I highly recommend him to you

100-year-old house
I would like to thank the electrician for the excellent work. Everything was done neatly, professionally, and on time. It’s clear that he knows his trade well — he quickly identified the problem and offered a solid solution. He worked cleanly and left everything tidy afterward, which is very important. I would also like to highlight his politeness and punctuality — he arrived on time and clearly explained what he was doing. The pricing was fair, with no unexpected extra charges. I highly recommend him as a reliable specialist you can trust.

Is Your Troutdale Panel Running Out of Room?

Seven in ten homes went up between 1970 and 1999 — early-1970s houses from the aluminum-wiring years and 1980s–90s panels running out of room.

Troutdale tells a 1970-to-1999 story: most of its 6,244 homes went up in those three decades, 2,023 of them in the 1990s alone. Only 268 homes predate 1960, so old wiring is rare here. I-84 runs along the north edge of the city.

Two kinds of house come up most. Houses built from 1970 to 1973 fall in the aluminum branch wiring years; being built then does not mean a house was wired that way, so we check at the panel and a few outlets. The 1980s and 1990s houses have modern wiring, on panels often full once a heat pump or EV charger wants a spot.

We start at the panel: early-1970s houses may have aluminum circuits, and later ones are often out of breaker space.

FAQ — Local Homes

Can you put an outlet in a room that has none?
Yes. We extend power from a nearby circuit or run a new one from the panel, depending on what that circuit already carries, and we pull the permit. In a 1980s or 1990s Troutdale house with a full panel, we check for a free space first.
What should I do if I smell burning from my electrical panel?
Treat it as an emergency. If you can reach it safely, switch off the main breaker, keep everyone away from the panel and call 503-984-1097; we take emergency jobs. If you see smoke or flames, get out and call 911 first.
Could a house built in 1971 have aluminum wiring?
It could. Houses built 1965–73 fall in the aluminum branch wiring years. Not every one used it; we open the panel and a few outlet boxes to see which metal is there.
Why is our 1990s panel out of space?
It was sized for a 1990s household. A heat pump, EV charger or hot tub each wants its own breaker. A subpanel or larger service usually follows a load calculation.
We're planning to stay put. Which electrical upgrades are worth doing now?
The ones your plans depend on. Seven in ten homes here were built between 1970 and 1999, so the usual list is a panel with room to grow, an EV circuit, and fixing aluminum branch connections in 1965–73 houses. We walk the house with you and put it in order in a written estimate.
Do I need city approval to replace a broken outlet?
Not if it is like for like. The city's own rules say a broken outlet replaced like for like needs none, but installing, upgrading or changing outlets for decorative purposes does, and so does any outlet where code requires GFCI protection.
