Aluminum Wiring Repair in Beaumont-Wilshire, Portland

Beaumont-Wilshire, Portland

Aluminum Wiring Repair

September 2026

In Beaumont-Wilshire, the old three-wire aluminum circuit feeding the electric dryer was shorting out. We retired it and ran a new 30-amp dryer line with a modern four-prong outlet, routing surface conduit through the garage attic so the walls stayed intact. The work was inspected, and old splices were moved into proper junction boxes to meet code. Aluminum wiring repair like this removes a real fire risk from an older home.

“Igor is amazing to work with. His attention to detail and drive to get the project done to spec (as well as make it look good) are great attributes. He continually went above and beyond to make sure the project was completed to code. I will absolutely work with Igor again when any electrical needs arise.”

Beaumont-Wilshire, Portland

New Circuit & Outlet Installation

September 2026

This Beaumont-Wilshire homeowner wanted a new outlet in the garage for tools. We ran a new circuit from the panel in flexible metal conduit and set the box where they needed it. A dedicated circuit means no more tripped breakers when the big tools are running.

“Igor is a very knowledgeable electrician. With his service, you’re never in the dark about what’s going on. He keeps you updated from beginning to end. Definitely recommend!”

Adding a Heat Pump or EV Charger to a 1940s Beaumont-Wilshire House? Check the Panel First

Two neighborhoods in one: 1920s bungalows with old wiring, and 1930 to 1959 houses whose panels were sized for a 1948 household — panel upgrades, rewiring and knob-and-tube replacement.

Beaumont-Wilshire is two neighborhoods in one. The first is 1920s bungalows: 1,109 homes from the 1920s and 144 from the 1910s, 1,253 in all, 55% of the 2,284 homes here. The second is the 849 homes built from 1930 to 1959 — 314 in the 1930s, 399 in the 1940s and 136 in the 1950s — 37%. The median house dates to 1929, runs a single story and covers about 1,767 square feet. More than two in three Beaumont-Wilshire homes are older than 1940.

The two halves need different things. The 1920s bungalows are an old-wiring story: knob-and-tube, no ground, cloth insulation. The 1935 to 1955 houses were wired with sheathed cable instead, but the outlets are still ungrounded and the panel was sized for a 1948 household — a range, a refrigerator, lights. A heat pump or an EV charger asks that panel for more than it was built to give. South-east Portland's Eastmoreland has the same split, with an even larger share of mid-century houses.

Electrical Service Upgrade & Meter Base in Alameda, Portland

Alameda, Portland

Electrical Service Upgrade & Meter Base

October 2026

This Alameda home needed more power than its old service could give. We upgraded the service on the outside wall with a new meter base and main disconnect, and the work was inspected. A service upgrade like this is often the first step before a new panel, an EV charger or a heat pump.

“Igor has done work for me multiple times and always does an excellent job. I highly recommend him.”

Hot Tub Electrician in Grant Park, Portland

Grant Park, Portland

Hot Tub Electrician

September 2026

A Grant Park family got a new hot tub, and it needed its own power. We trenched a line across the yard, ran a dedicated circuit to a spa disconnect and got the tub running. Hot tubs need a GFCI-protected circuit and a disconnect within sight of the tub, and we set it up that way from the start.

★★★★★Elena H.

“Professional, knowledgeable and competent, great communication, everything done on time and as promised, reasonable prices, highly recommend.”

Electrical Panel Replacement & Upgrade in Alameda, Portland

Alameda, Portland

Electrical Panel Replacement & Upgrade

September 2026

An Alameda home in Portland had two panels, one of them an old Murray. We combined them into a single new panel rated for 200 amps, with the main breaker set at 100 amps to match the house's current service. If the homeowners decide to upgrade to 200-amp service later, the panel is already ready for it. We also grounded the house to code and added gas and water bonding.

“Very professional and knowledgeable. Igor did an awsome job. We will continue to use PWR PRO ELECTRIC, for our indoor lighting.”

Electrical Repair & Troubleshooting in Rose City Park, Portland

Rose City Park, Portland

Electrical Repair & Troubleshooting

September 2026

An owner of several older rental properties, one of them in Rose City Park, sends us the hard problems these houses turn up. Older rentals tend to hide wiring surprises behind the walls, so electrical troubleshooting there starts with finding the real cause, then fixing it properly instead of patching it.

★★★★★Michele M.

“Igor is the smartest, most thorough electrician I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with! In owning some older rental properties, I threw some really difficult projects at him. He treated it like “nothing but a thing!” and solved every problem efficiently, thoroughly and successfully. I would trust him with ANY electrical task!”

FAQ — Local Homes

My 1950s home still has its original 100-amp panel. Is that enough?
For the house as it was built, yes. For the house as most people live in it now — a heat pump, a modern kitchen, a dryer, maybe a charger — often not. The panel may also be full, with no spare slots. We add up the loads before we say either way.
What makes an EV charger different from other loads on a builder-era panel?
It runs for hours at a high, steady draw, usually at night when the heat pump is also working — a different pattern from a range used for twenty minutes. A panel that copes with the house today may not have room for a charger without an upgrade.
How do I know if my Beaumont-Wilshire home still has knob-and-tube?
Check the build date first. A 1920s bungalow here started with it; a house from 1935 or later almost certainly did not. Then look in the attic and basement for ceramic knobs and cloth-covered wire. If you can't tell, we'll check when we come out.
Why are safety inspections important for older homes?
Because the problems are hidden. Ungrounded outlets, overloaded circuits, a full panel, open splices in the attic — none of these show from the living room. An inspection lists what is there and what needs attention, so you can plan rather than react.
Who inspects electrical work in this neighborhood?
The City of Portland, through its development bureau at 1900 SW 4th Ave. We arrange the inspection, so you don't need to deal with the bureau yourself.
