Hot Tub Electrician in Forest Hills, Lake Oswego

Hot Tub Electrician

October 2026

A Forest Hills home in Lake Oswego had a hot tub that lost power and wouldn't come back on. We traced the problem through the circuit to the spa disconnect outside, made the repair and got the tub running again. Hot tub electrical problems usually live in that disconnect or the circuit feeding it, so that is where we start.

“Igor was AMAZING!!! We had a power problem with our hot tub and Igor was able to trouble shoot the problem and get it running again. Highly recommend! He is our go to electrician and should be yours too!”

What Was Your Lake Oswego House Wired to Run?

Most of the housing here dates from 1960–89, with an older 1940s–50s layer beneath it, and both tend to have panels that predate what people plug in today.

Lake Oswego is mostly a 1970s town sitting on top of older ones. Between 1960 and 1989 it added 54.9% of its 18,140 homes, including 4,335 in the 1970s. The panels in those houses were planned around a range, a dryer and lights; today they feed heat pumps, car chargers and remodeled kitchens. Houses finished from 1965 to 1973 also went up while aluminum branch circuits were in use. I-5 runs along the west edge of the city.

Underneath sits a 1940s and 50s layer, about 1,750 homes, many still on original services, and 632 homes from before 1940, some of them lake cottages where knob-and-tube is possible.

FAQ — Local Homes

Do lakefront homes need special wiring for docks and boat lifts?
Yes. Power near the water needs ground-fault protection, fittings rated for wet locations and a circuit sized for the lift motor. Older dock wiring often predates current practice, so on a Lake Oswego lakefront lot we check what is there before adding anything.
Is a 1950s house's original service enough?
Sometimes, if not much runs on it. Add a heat pump or a car charger and it usually isn't. We look at the panel first and pull the permit for any upgrade.
How do I know if my house has aluminum wiring?
The build year only hints at it; houses finished between 1965 and 1973 are the ones to suspect. Dull silver wire at a switch or on the breakers is the giveaway, or we can open a couple of boxes and look.
Could a Lake Oswego house still have knob-and-tube?
It's possible, mostly in the older lake cottages from before 1940. They're a small share of the city, 3.5%, but those are the houses where we look for it.
Our 1980s house is getting a kitchen remodel. Will the panel keep up?
Find out before the cabinets go in. A kitchen redo typically brings new dedicated circuits: induction range, dishwasher, microwave, countertop outlets. There are about 3,900 homes here from the 1980s, and in each one we count the open spaces and total the load so the electrical plan is settled before the walls close.
Does the city or Clackamas County inspect electrical work here?
The city. Its Building office at 380 A Ave handles its own electrical and low-voltage applications, plan review and inspections. We take care of the paperwork and book the visit.
