What a Tesla Charger Installation Involves in Portland
A Wall Connector hardwired to its own circuit, or a 240-volt outlet for the Mobile Connector — placed where your charge port ends up when you park. We install them across Portland, Hillsboro, Vancouver, and surrounding communities.
A Tesla charger at home is one of two setups: the Tesla Wall Connector, hardwired to its own circuit, or the Mobile Connector, plugged into a 240-volt outlet with the matching adapter. Both need a dedicated 240-volt circuit from the panel, so the job starts there. We look at what the house already runs and what the service can carry, then check that a car charging for hours at a stretch fits on top. If it does not, you hear that before anything is wired.
Next is where it goes. Park the way you usually do and look at where the charge port ends up; the Wall Connector goes on the wall or a post near it, so the cable reaches without stretching across a door or a walkway. The Wall Connector is built for outdoor use, which suits a Portland driveway or carport as well as a garage. During setup the Wall Connector is told the size of the breaker that feeds it, so it never draws more than its circuit is built for.
Two Teslas can share one circuit. Wall Connectors can be linked so they split the available power between the cars — a feature Tesla builds into the unit — and that can save a second circuit on a panel with little room left. A new charging circuit is new wiring: we pull the permit for it, and we test the charger with your car before we leave.

What Affects the Cost of a Tesla Charger in Portland
Every Tesla setup starts with a dedicated 240-volt circuit, and these are the things that change how much work that circuit is.
Wall Connector or Mobile Connector
Hardwiring a Wall Connector and fitting a 240-volt outlet for the Mobile Connector are wired differently.
Where the charge port lands
A spot near the panel is a short run; a carport or a post across the driveway is a longer one.
Garage or outdoors
A garage wall is straightforward, while a driveway post needs conduit run to it.
Breaker size
A bigger breaker lets the car charge faster, but it needs heavier wire and more room on the panel.
Room on the panel
A panel with little space or capacity left may need work before the new circuit goes in.
Two Teslas
Linked Wall Connectors can share one circuit, which can save running a second.
Inspection
A new charging circuit is new wiring, and we pull the permit for it.
