What Our Customers Say

Igor was fantastic. Spent hours diagnosing an outlet issue that another electrician gave up on after 30 minutes. He was committed to finding the solution and he did find it. He also noticed several other unsafe non code issues. He offered us several options and gave us pricing prior to proceeding with those options. He was very thorough and offered fair pricing. Will definitely be calling him up again.

Is Something Wrong Inside Your Portland Home's Panel?

Signs it's time for a panel repair visit

A breaker that won't snap in or stay seated
Scorch marks or melted plastic at one spot
Rust, water stains or drips inside the panel
A missing cover, or open slots in it
Buzzing or a hot smell from the panel
Lights flicker on several circuits at once

What Panel Repair Covers in Portland

Loose connections, a damaged cover, a breaker that won't seat, scorching or water — fixed in a panel that is otherwise sound, across Portland, West Linn, Gresham, and surrounding communities.

Panel repair fixes a fault inside an electrical panel that is otherwise sound: a connection at the main lugs or neutral bar that has worked loose and started to heat; a breaker that won't snap onto the bus because its stab is worn or burnt; a missing cover or dead front that leaves live parts within reach; water that has left rust; scorching at one spot.

We open the panel and test every connection, the bus under each breaker, the neutral and ground bars, and the main. Burnt wire ends are cut back and reconnected, a damaged bus space is retired and its circuit moved, and covers and filler plates are replaced with parts made for that panel. If water got in — sometimes down the service cable from the meter base — we find the way in. When the meter has to be pulled, we arrange it with PGE or Pacific Power, depending on your address.

Repair is the wrong answer in three cases: a Federal Pacific Stab-Lok or Zinsco panel, whatever the symptom; a panel with no free spaces for what you want to add; and heat damage or corrosion spread along the bus. Those need an Electrical Panel Replacement & Upgrade. One worn breaker in a healthy panel is smaller: Circuit Breaker Repair & Replacement.

What Affects the Cost of Panel Repair in Portland

A repair can be one loose lug or several problems at once, and these are the things that tell them apart.

  • What failed

Tightening a loose lug is quick; burnt wire ends, a damaged bus space or a failed main take longer.

  • How far the heat spread

Scorching at one spot can be repaired, but damage along the bus means a new panel instead.

  • Water inside

Rust means cleaning up the damage and finding how the water got in, sometimes down the service cable.

  • Parts made for that panel

Covers, dead fronts, filler plates and breakers have to match the make, and some older makes are harder to supply.

  • A meter pull

When the power has to be cut ahead of the main, we arrange a meter pull with your power company.

  • The make of panel

A Federal Pacific Stab-Lok or Zinsco isn't worth fixing, so the estimate covers a new panel.

Every job gets a written estimate before any work starts.

Panel Repair Questions

Can a Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel be repaired?
No. Those are the two makes inspectors flag, and we replace them whatever the symptom. Changing a breaker or tightening a lug in one still leaves the same panel in the wall.
There's rust or water inside my electrical panel. What should I do?
Don't touch the panel or stand in water to reach it. If the main breaker is reachable from a dry spot, switch it off, then call 503-984-1097. Urgent problem after hours? Call anyway — we take urgent calls outside our regular hours.
A breaker won't stay in my panel. Is the panel damaged?
Sometimes. The breaker may be worn or the wrong type — a quick swap, about 10 minutes. If the bus under it is burnt, that space is retired; if the damage has spread, the panel is replaced.
How long is the power off for a panel repair?
It depends on what we find; the written estimate says. If the panel needs replacing instead, that is a 1–2 day job with the power off for about 8 hours, usually starting within a few days of approval, sometimes sooner.
