What Our Customers Say
Is It Time to Replace the Wiring, Not Patch It?
New grounded cable from the panel to every outlet, switch and fixture in your Vancouver home — CPU meter work scheduled when the panel changes too.
You have decided the wiring itself has to go, not just one circuit. A whole-house rewire here runs in the same phases as anywhere else, with one local difference: the utility. If the main panel is replaced as part of the job — and in an older house it usually is — Clark Public Utilities pulls the meter for the panel work and does not set it again until the inspection passes. New cable goes in through the attic, crawlspace and wall cavities, with finished surfaces opened only where the house leaves no other route. The inspector sees the work at rough-in, before walls close, and again at final. Old wiring is disconnected at both ends. You finish with grounded outlets in every room, GFCI and AFCI protection where the code requires it, and a panel with room left over. Patching is listed in the estimate.

The city holds two kinds of rewire candidate. Downtown, the five tracts within 2.5 km of the center are 34% pre-1940 and hold 71% of the city's oldest homes, where original wiring is common. Across the city, 13,705 houses date from the 1970s, and the 1965–73 slice of those can carry aluminum branch wiring.
Signs a Vancouver House Needs a Whole-House Rewire
What Affects the Cost of a Whole-House Rewire in Vancouver
Replacing every circuit in a house is a big job, and these points set how big it is in yours.
Size of the house
More rooms mean more circuits, devices and cable, and more days on site.
Everything or in stages
A staged job replaces the worst circuits first, and the estimate says which ones cannot wait.
What is behind the walls
Near downtown, original pre-1940 wiring is common; in 1965–73 houses, aluminum branch circuits may be the reason.
Routes for the cable
Attics, crawlspaces and wall cavities carry most runs; finished surfaces are opened only where there is no other path.
Patching
Every planned opening and its patch is listed in the estimate.
A new panel and CPU
If the panel is replaced too, Clark Public Utilities pulls the meter and resets it only after the inspection passes.
Two inspections
Rough-in and final are inspected by the city inside its limits, or by Washington L&I outside them.
Every job gets a written estimate before any work starts.
